Enjoy a unique experience by shaping your knife thanks to the expertise of Pierre Castin, artisan cutler in Sorée.

Interning with a master knifemaker to craft your own knife is a unique and fascinating experience. Not only does it allow you to discover the ancestral art of cutlery, but it also allows you to create a functional and personal object.

This allows you to learn the different stages of making a straight or folding knife, from design to finishing. You will be able to choose the appropriate materials, such as steel for the blade, and different types of wood or horn for the handle.

In addition to learning specific techniques, this course also offers the opportunity to express one's creativity, understanding and appreciating the meticulous and precise work required to make a knife. Every step of the process, from the selection of materials to the finishing, requires special attention and meticulous care. It is an opportunity to learn the value of a job well done and attention to detail. It is an immersion into the fascinating world of cutlery, allowing one to reconnect with manual work and develop new skills.


Internships

Pierre Castin, artisan cutler in Sorée (Gesves), welcomes you to his workshop for 1 or 2 days, depending on the type of knife to be made.

  • 1 day: €290 to make a straight knife (camp or kitchen model, blade maximum 17 cm, excluding sheath)

  • 2 days: €490 to make a folding knife (Piedmontese or flat-blade model, maximum 9 cm blade), leather sheath and pouch included

The price of the course includes the finished knife as well as lunch and drinks for the day.
