Octagonal magpie trap for hunting

It consists of a central compartment for the caller surrounded by four compartments for capture.

This magpie trap is a compromise between the square trap and the round trap. The corners of the trap are less pronounced than on the square trap, allowing the bird to easily navigate around the trap to find the entrance. The octagonal shape has an additional advantage as its shape guides the magpie towards the entrances, which are more visible to the bird than on a round magpie trap where it may turn without entering the trap.
